It's a new year, which means a new website for Paws to Adopt! Paws to Adopt has a new design, but most importantly it has new resources for others. Some have not been entirely completed yet, and we also have a few more ideas that will be put up shortly.

In the mean time, check out the new Paws to Adopt and the adoptable dogs as there are many dogs that needs homes! The Ukiah shelter has had an influx of dogs and puppies. Over 90 dogs and just 46 kennels, so if you are looking to adopt, now would be the time to save a life!

Our next blog is going to have a list of our most favorite adoptions of 2009 from the Ukiah Shelter. But right now check out the new Paws to Adopt! Enjoy! wink

Baby Cakes came for a visit!
Posted by Mariah | On 27 Dec 2009 | 3 Comments
Baby Cakes came into the shelter early September this year. She was frightened, nervous and always had a worried look upon her face. Any loud noises or sudden movements sent her straight to the floor with her eyes shut, which made it seem like she had been abused. She won my heart early on, because it wasn't her fault she was so scared, it was because of her previous owner. Several months passed by, and Baby Cakes got much better, however it just was not enough for an adopter to give her a chance. People kept passing her up because of her big muscular body and shy personality. As the months passed by, I kept working with her as well as many volunteers at the shelter and she was starting to bond with us. We all loved Baby Cakes and hoped soon someone would adopt her. Then, someone saw Baby Cakes' picture online and read her story and came up to meet her. Baby Cakes was really scared, however her now forever home came up again with her new dog, Bo, to give it another try. Baby Cakes and Bo were perfect together! Baby Cakes just needed a more confident dog friend to show her the ropes and a special person to give her that second chance... Now, she is doing absolutely FANTASTIC! Who knew this once incredibly shy dog would do so well?! She loves car rides, she does pretty well with meeting people and gets along great with other dogs. Baby Cakes took baby steps at the shelter and then one giant leap. Baby Cakes is finally home...
